A human guide

Sunshine is easy. A good plan takes more work.

On a map, it is easy to confuse places worth a full day with those best seen in passing. Our guides explain how long to allow, what combines into one route and what to avoid in the midday heat.

What to order

Espeto, boquerones and chilled ajoblanco

Look for a chiringuito that actually grills sardines over a sand-filled boat. In Málaga, try boquerones, ensalada malagueña and ajoblanco.

Restaurants will be added after a personal visit or a strong local recommendation.
